It’s All About Jesus (Sermon Blog)

Series Recap: For months we’ve been walking verse by verse through the book of Romans, exploring God’s grace, our need for salvation, and the life-changing power of the gospel. This week guest pastor Logan Mabe joined us to teach from Romans 15 and remind us of one essential truth: it’s all about Jesus.

Four Core Truths from Romans 15

1. Jesus Is Our Example to Follow

  • Paul calls believers to “bear with the failings of the weak” (Romans 15:1).

  • Strength isn’t physical—it’s spiritual maturity expressed in service.

  • Like Jesus washing His disciples’ feet (John 13), we’re called to humility, self-sacrifice, and daily obedience.

  • Key takeaway: follow Christ, not trends or personalities.

2. Jesus Is for All People

  • God’s plan of salvation extends beyond Israel to every nation and culture.

  • Paul highlights Old Testament promises fulfilled in Christ: “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people” (Romans 15:10).

  • No one is outside God’s reach—rich or poor, religious or irreligious.

  • Our mission is to share the gospel where we work, live, and play.

3. Jesus Unifies the Church

  • Unity ≠ uniformity. Preferences (music style, dress, Bible translation) are not essentials.

  • What holds us together isn’t culture or politics—it’s the person of Jesus.

  • “Live in such harmony…that together you may with one voice glorify God” (Romans 15:5-6).

4. Jesus Is Our Hope, Joy, and Peace

  • “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing” (Romans 15:13).

  • Real hope looks beyond circumstances to eternity.

  • Joy flows from God’s presence, even in trials (James 1:2-4).

  • Peace—true shalom—anchors us when life feels uncertain.

Living It Out

Logan challenged us to examine our “buckets”:

  • Essentials we never compromise (Jesus is the only way).

  • Differences we respect (church practices, leadership styles).

  • Preferences we hold loosely (music, attire).

Ask yourself:

  • Am I following Jesus’ example or merely copying a church culture?

  • Do I believe Jesus is truly for all people?

  • Where do I need His hope, joy, and peace today?
