Easter: The Greatest Comeback of All Time (Sermon Blog)
Celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus at Pacific Life Church
Every great sports story has a comeback. Think of Tiger Woods, Muhammad Ali, or the Red Sox in 2004. Comebacks grip us because they speak to something deeper: hope, redemption, and new life. But as powerful as those stories are, there's one comeback that tops them all—the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
This Easter at Pacific Life Church, we celebrated The Greatest Comeback of All Time—when Jesus conquered death and offered us the same comeback opportunity in our own lives.
A Real Resurrection: Not Just a Story
Jesus didn’t just metaphorically "rise again." His resurrection was historical, physical, and well-documented. Here’s why the resurrection matters:
Jesus predicted it—both privately and publicly.
His body was buried with care in a guarded, sealed tomb.
Roman soldiers watched the tomb—and were terrified when the stone rolled away.
Eyewitnesses encountered Him alive, including Mary, the disciples, and more than 500 people over 40 days.
The grave clothes remained, untouched, as if He had passed right through them.
These weren’t hallucinations or hopeful legends. As Charles Colson once said, “Twelve men testified they had seen the risen Jesus... and not one recanted.” You don’t suffer and die for a lie.
Why Did Jesus Come Back?
Jesus came back so you could come back. His resurrection isn’t just history—it’s deeply personal.
1. Come Back from the Effects of Sin
Sin has left our world—and our lives—broken. But Jesus offers healing.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23
We can't meet God’s standard on our own. But through Jesus, we don’t have to.
2. Come Back from Regret and Shame
No matter your past, Jesus invites you to live without condemnation.
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” – Romans 8:1
You’re not stuck in your mistakes. The resurrection means grace, freedom, and peace.
3. Come Back to a Better Life
Jesus doesn’t promise an easier life—but a better one. Relationships, purpose, patience, forgiveness—He transforms it all.
What's Your Comeback Story?
Many of us have walked away or felt distant. But Easter reminds us—it’s never too late to come back.
Are you ready?
“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” – Romans 10:9
